Fishin' at Illahee State Park

Last Saturday we took John Paul fishing for the first time off the dock of the Puget Sound. We met up with our friends, Eric, Jason, and Matt and Andi, and their two children, Sydney and Saul. Matt wanted to try his luck again at catching a fish for the second weekend in a row. In fact we were actually squid fishing, but I wasn't sure what we were going to do with the squid. But it didn't matter; we were unsuccessful. But it was sure fun!

Sydney was all smiles.

Saul had fun dipping his pole in for a catch. Matt was giving him a few pointers on his success. And believe it or not, Saul actually caught a crab with his Scooby Doo fishing pole.

However, Saul is very smart for an 18 month old. This is really what fishing is all about. (Just minus the beer. That comes later.)

John Paul like posing for a picture with the pole.
I didn't buy a fishing license for the day, but I still got in on the action. I just had to work very quickly. I borrowed Saul's pole and casted in to try my luck.
Success!! Look what I caught!
