Crab Boil--Memorial Day Weekend

I realized that I hadn't posted the pictures from our crab boil on Memorial Day Weekend. And since our lives aren't that exciting this weekend, why not tell about the fun time we had.

First, bring the water to a boil. I wonder if Shaun knows that a watched pot never boils.
Next take the crab from the cooler. We placed them on ice when we bought them so they would be sleepy when we wanted to take them out.
Watch out for those pinchers!!
Then, Matt talked to the crab to reassure him of his faint--to be boiled. (JP took notice of EVERYTHING too.)
Gently place the crab in the boiling pot of water.
Then boil him for about 20 minutes.
Check on them, but use precaution.

Ta-Da! It's done! How did we know that was the easy part!

Then we placed the three crabs back on ice.
Don't worry, it's cooked and not moving any more!
Now, to get the meat out of these tasty crabs, you have to pluck off their legs and open them up like so.
It was a very tedious job and time consuming. They didn't take long to cook and about twice as long to get the meat out of the three crabs.
They look so happy--yeah right. They are actually thinking, why is Julie taking pictures and not helping us out with this?

In conclusion, the whole experience was fun, but they were pretty pricey and took a LONG time to prepare. So we are thankful to say we did it, but please, if you come to visit, don't request this activity. We'll probably just take you out to eat!

Julie, you all were having way to much fun! Though I have no intention of forwarding these gruesome photos on to the proper authorities, just the thought of putting "sleepy" crabs into a pot of boiling water makes me shutter!
